Is zoom a safe app?  Before we zoom into that. Everyone who readies this article must be remembering their school days right. During our childhood, we didn’t have these Digital devices.

I remember that when I changed my schoolings, I used to collect my friends’ landline number in diaries to contact them further. Most of you would also have done it. But we never tend to call them again right. And sometimes we would have missed their numbers.

Is zoom cloud app is it safe:

Zoom cloud meeting is nothing it’s just an online-based conference platform. It can be used for video conferencing, audio conferencing, webinars, recording, chats, and more.

When you register for a zoom meeting it generates an ID like this 915-570-931 and for every Zoom meeting it generates a new ID.

But the problem is that the number which is generated is a random number. Anybody can put a random number to join a meeting. For example, I am just putting a number 111-111-1111 and can join a meeting that is registered in this ID. So anybody can access a private meeting. I can attend a confidential meeting using this number if I have luck. Some of you may be thinking let me try this out. Don’t do it guys.

Is zoom app is safe for online classes:

In Singapore, 39 children were attending the geography online class during the class. A strange image appeared where two men asked a girl to ‘flask’. So the class stopped immediately. Due to this incident, Singapore banned the zoom app.

Due to this COVID 19 situation, most of us were forced to attend online classes. As I said anybody can join a Zoom meeting with random numbers. So this causes Zoom bombing.

What’s zoom bombing?

Zoom bombing is an annoying thing or unwanted thing that happens in a Zoom call.

Meetings held at CSUB ASI Board Meeting were an unknown guy who came in and entirely collapsed the meeting like scribbling on the screen.

By the way, Zoom is not safe for online classes and it’s also not safe for students too.

Is the zoom app safe on the phone?

The number of Zoom users on the Phone is more than the number of Zoom users on a PC or Laptop. When a new application is installed on our phone it scans the application completely before we use that application.

Even though the Major Complained about the” Zoom app is that Zoom gives our personal information to Facebook and dark web”. In reality, there is no proof to prove this statement. But it can be considered as a problem.

10 best ways to use Zoom with prior protection:

We zoomed the problems. Now it’s time for the solutions.

1. Switch to other platforms:

If you are a guy who really cares about security and stuff like that. Then you can switch to other cloud meeting platforms such as Google meet, Skype, Cisco WebEx, Zoho, and more. You can use any of these in the replacement of the Zoom app.

2. Use a password:

If you are a host generate a password for each Zoom call. You can transfer the password only to your attendees.  “Passwords are like underwear: you don’t let people see it, you should change it very often, and you shouldn’t share it with strangers.” ~ Chris Pirillo

3. Update your Zoom app:

Most of us won’t update the Zoom app frequently. This also may be a cause for Security reasons. The application frequently updates its features not only that it also updates the security level as well.  So update your Zoom app to the latest version.

4. Don’t post the link on social media:

If you are the one who is using the Zoom app for webinars and meetings do not share your private Zoom call ID on social media. “The personal and important things are not posted in Social Medias”

5. Waiting Room:

As a host you can use a waiting room option on a zoom app where the participants can wait in the waiting room before the meeting starts and need the host approval to enter into the main room. But this solution fails if you have too many participants. For that you can add a co-host who can allow the participant into the main room.

6. Control it:

As a host, it’s your duty to control the meetings if anybody is doing annoying things just remove them from the meeting and disallow them to rejoin the meeting. In this way, you can secure your meeting and other participants.

7. No private chatting:

Say no to private chat. This may control the spamming which happens in the chatbox and it also helps in preventing privacy.

8. Screen share host only:

Always as a host makes sure that the sharing system is in your hand. If anything embarrassing happens on zoom calls just unshared the specific screen and remove them from the meeting.

9. Be a gentleman:

Anybody in the zoom call can record the meeting using the software. So be gentle and act like a professional in the Zoom meeting. “The gentleman is simply a patient wolf”

10. Follow the rules:

As a participant, you must obey the rules of the Zoom app. You should not enter into other’s privacy during the calls.
